President Trump: “Many ships are heading to our country right now as we speak to load up with the best and sweetest. I don't know exactly what sweet is, but when it relates to oil it's a good thing. But they're coming to our country right now; there are many boats coming to our country.” “We’ve been called this morning by the right people, the appropriate people, and they want to work a deal. They would like to work a deal.” Reporter: “Is it your anticipation that other countries will assist in this effort to blockade Iran and those shipments?” President Trump: “Yeah, other countries are gonna also.”

President Trump: “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. And we agreed to a lot of things, but they didn't agree to that, and I think they will agree to it, I'm almost sure of it. In fact, I am sure of it.” “If they don't agree, there's no deal, there'll never be a deal. Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, and we're going to get the dust back. We'll get it back, either we'll get it back from them or we'll take it."

President Trump on Iran’s handling of the Strait of Hormuz: “We can’t let a country blackmail or extort the world, 'cause that’s what they’re doing… We’re not going to let that happen.” “We have our own oil and gas, much more than we need… We produce more Saudi Arabia and add Russia to it. Substantially more. And by next year, we’ll have double that amount. So we don't need it, but the world needs it.”

President Trump rejected calls from U.S. Catholic bishops to apologize for comments he made Sunday night criticizing Pope Leo XIV for his comments against the Iran war: "Pope Leo said things that are wrong. He was very much against what I'm doing with regard to Iran…There's nothing to apologize for." “His brother is a big MAGA person and he's a great guy, Louis. And I said I like Louis better than I like the pope.”

Israel Braces for Potential Iranian Strike as Hormuz Tensions Peak - Channel 14 Israel has significantly ramped up its military readiness in anticipation of a potential Iranian offensive, according to Israel’s Channel 14. This surge in preparation follows the expiration of a critical ceasefire deadline set by President Trump and the implementation of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Israeli defense officials are currently gaming out various high-stakes scenarios, including the possibility of massive missile fire targeting Israeli population centers and infrastructure. In response to these threats, the IDF have reached peak operational capacity over the last 24 hours. While Home Front Command has not yet issued new emergency instructions for civilians, the military is reportedly working in "full coordination" with the United States to prepare both counterattack strategies and rapid-response mechanisms. The situation remains volatile as Iran has publicly labeled the American blockade an "act of war." Israeli leadership remains cautious, weighing the risk of military miscalculations while maintaining that any offensive action on their part would likely be contingent on a direct Iranian provocation or clear indicators of an imminent strike. Currently, the Israeli Air Force is poised to support the maritime blockade, ensuring that regional stability is maintained despite the heightened friction.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "Year after year, I have stood here and made a commitment at this Holocaust Remembrance ceremony: we will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. And as Prime Minister of Israel, I pledged there will be no second Holocaust.” “This year, we fulfilled that promise in practice. We delivered the most severe blow in that regime's history."

The IDF Home Front Command says it is further easing its wartime guidelines amid the ongoing fighting against Hezbollah in Lebanon and ceasefire in Iran. In communities on the Lebanon border, educational activities will be permitted only inside bomb shelters, and in the northern Golan Heights and Upper Galilee, educational activities will be permitted provided an adequate bomb shelter can be reached in time. Meanwhile, gatherings of up to 5,000 people will now be permitted in the southern Golan, Beit She’an Valley, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Judea (southern West Bank), Judean Foothills, Lachish, Gaza border communities, the Negev, Arava, and Eilat. In the rest of the country, no changes are made to the guidelines, the military says. The guidelines remain in effect until Tuesday at 8 p.m. By then, the Home Front Command will conduct a fresh assessment.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem calls on the Lebanese government to cancel Tuesday’s meeting with Israeli officials in Washington. “We responded at the appropriate time and denied that this was the right time to proceed with implementing the agreement.” “It was then discovered that a very large aggressive plan had been prepared for Lebanon. We deprived the enemy of our surprise attack and the infliction of very heavy losses that could have occurred.” “The enemy's objectives are clear: to destroy the strength that Lebanon possesses as a prelude to a Greater Israel. For your information, all of Lebanon is targeted because when Israel occupies southern Lebanon, it means it occupies all of Lebanon. When it exerts pressure and spreads its killing across Lebanese territory, it means all of Lebanon is targeted.” “In the event of aggression, the Lebanese state is supposed to confront the aggression and task its army and security forces with countering it. Israel, along with America, has clearly stated that they want to strengthen the army to disarm and fight Hezbollah. They want the state to abolish the party's various institutions and eliminate the existence of the resistance, its people, and all who support it.” “They want to support the army to the extent that it is capable of fighting its own people, and this is something the army cannot do.”

US home sales fall in March, marking a slow start to the spring homebuying season Home sales fell 3.6% in March, a weak start to the spring season as high costs and economic uncertainty held buyers back. Existing-home sales dropped to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.98 million, the lowest since June 2025, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) said Monday. The decline was steeper than the 1% drop economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal expected and was the second largest monthly fall in the past year. The market has been sluggish for three years and shows little improvement. Mortgage rates dipped below 6% in late February for the first time since 2022, but rose again in March after the start of the war with Iran. The average 30-year fixed rate reached 6.37% last week, according to Freddie Mac. Rates are still lower than a year ago, but sudden increases can deter buyers and make qualifying harder. NAR cut its forecast, now expecting existing-home sales to rise 4% in 2026, down from 14%, with new home sales flat. The National Association of Home Builders said a rise from 6% to 6.25% prices out about 1.4 million households from affording a median-priced new home. Sales fell a revised 5.9% in January, rose slightly in February, then dropped again in March. The war in Iran is unlikely to help, as economic and job uncertainty discourage major purchases. The Southeast and Southwest have inventory above prepandemic levels and slower markets, while the Northeast and Midwest remain undersupplied. The median existing-home price rose to $408,800 in March, up 1.4% from a year earlier. Inventory is still below prepandemic levels but rising, up 3% from February and 2.3% from March 2025, NAR said. Homes spent a median of 41 days on the market, up from 36 days a year earlier.

Judge dismisses Trump’s $10B lawsuit against WSJ, Murdoch over reporting on ties to Epstein A federal judge dismissed President Donald Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch on Monday over a story on his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. U.S. District Judge Darrin P. Gayles in Florida wrote in the order that Trump had failed to make the argument that the article was published with the intent to be malicious, but gave the president a chance to file an amended complaint. In a social media post several hours after the ruling, Trump said the decision “is not a termination” but rather a “suggested re-filing” of his “powerful case,” which Trump said would be done “on or before April 27th.”

Self-hating Jewish Sen. Bernie Sanders said that he will force a Senate vote to block a major US arms sale to Israel, intensifying his criticism of American military support for the Netanyahu government, accusing it of genocide. "This week, I will be forcing a vote on legislation to block the sale of nearly half a billion dollars worth of bombs and bulldozers to the Israeli military," Sanders said on US social media company X. "The extremist Netanyahu government that has committed genocide in Gaza does not need more military support from American taxpayers,” said Sanders, an indepdent who caucuses with Democratic senators. The move follows a series of similar efforts by Sanders to challenge US weapons sales to Israel using joint resolutions of disapproval, a legislative mechanism that can force Senate votes on arms deals. In January, Sanders filed a joint resolution of disapproval to block nearly $660 million in bomb sales to Israel.

Global Jewish population is 15.8 million, almost half live in Israel The global Jewish population is 15.8 million, Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics said in its annual report on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. As of 2025, 15.8 million Jews live worldwide, including 7.2 million (about 45%) in Israel and about 6.3 million (around 40%) in the United States. The next largest populations are in France, Canada, the UK, Argentina, Germany, Russia, and Australia. In 1939, on the eve of World War II, the global Jewish population was 16.6 million, with 449,000 (3%) in Israel. In 1948, on the eve of Israel’s establishment, it was 11.5 million, with 650,000 (6%) in Israel. The global population has not returned to prewar levels. Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics also reported that about 111,000 Holocaust survivors and victims of antisemitic persecution live in Israel, 63% women and 37% men. Of them, 6% immigrated between 1933 and 1947, 30.2% between 1948 and 1951, 30.2% between 1952 and 1989, and 33.6% since the 1990s during the most recent wave from the former Soviet Union. The global Jewish population has grown since 2020, when it was 15.2 million. However, the number of recognized Holocaust survivors in Israel has fallen over the past five years, from 165,000 in 2021, underscoring the dwindling number of those who witnessed the horrors World War II.

Israeli police to compensate chareidi man 414,000 shekels The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court accepted a civil lawsuit filed by a chareidi young man against the Israel Police over a false arrest and a negligently handled criminal case that ended in a full acquittal. Represented by attorney Barak Kedem of Arbus Kedem Tzur (pictured above), the plaintiff will receive about 414,000 shekels in total compensation. The case stems from a December 2013 Jerusalem protest against conscription of yeshiva students, when the then 18-year-old plaintiff, a recent immigrant from Australia, was arrested on suspicion of throwing a stone at security forces. In the arrest report and testimony, Officer D. claimed he identified the plaintiff in the act, kept continuous visual contact, ran toward him, and subdued him with another officer. Photos and video submitted by the defense contradicted this account, showing the officer was at a considerable distance, looking elsewhere, and that other officers not mentioned in the report made the arrest. Claims of a “chase” and “violent resistance” also did not match the footage. The court ruled the officers were at least negligent in their arrest reports and statements, which did not reflect what actually happened. It noted these reports are central to prosecutorial decisions, making the discrepancies significant. The extended proceedings and arrest caused significant psychological harm. A court-appointed expert found the plaintiff suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, resulting in a permanent 10% disability. The court awarded damages for pain and suffering, loss of earnings, and medical expenses. In total, the Israel Police were ordered to pay 328,605 shekels, plus 23.4% in attorney’s fees (about 77,000 shekels) and reimbursement for expert and court costs, bringing the total to roughly 414,000 shekels. Attorney Barak Kedem said the case showed “over-enforcement by the police against chareidi protests compared to other demonstrations,” adding he was pleased the court recognized the severity of the conduct and awarded appropriate compensation.

Iran secures UN role with backing from UK, France, Canada, Australia as US stands alone Western democracies, including the UK, France, Canada and Australia, are facing backlash after allowing Iran and other authoritarian regimes to secure seats on influential United Nations bodies, with the United States standing alone in opposition. The controversy stems from decisions by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a 54 member body that plays a central role in shaping U.N. policy and staffing key committees. Critics warn the outcome could allow governments accused of human rights abuses to influence global policy and control which civil society groups gain access to the United Nations. ECOSOC nominated the Islamic Republic of Iran to the U.N.’s Committee for Program and Coordination Wednesday, a body that helps shape policy on human rights, women’s rights, disarmament and counterterrorism. The nomination is widely expected to be finalized, as the United Nations General Assembly typically approves such recommendations without a vote. At the same session, ECOSOC elected China, Cuba, Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia and Sudan to the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, which oversees accreditation and access for thousands of NGOs operating within the U.N. system. The United States was the only member state to formally break from consensus. In remarks delivered April 8, U.S. Representative to ECOSOC Ambassador Dan Negrea said the U.S. “disassociates from consensus” on both decisions, calling several of the countries involved unfit for such roles. “The regime threatens its neighbors and has, for decades, infringed on the Iranian people’s ability to exercise their basic human rights,” Negrea said, adding that “we believe Iran is unfit to serve” on the committee.

Mamdani proposes major redesign of Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza to connect it to Prospect Park On Monday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and New York City Department of Transportation officials proposed a major redesign of Grand Army Plaza that would ban cars from a dangerous stretch near Prospect Park and reconnect the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Arch to the park. The plan would add space for cyclists and pedestrians, reduce crossings, and improve safety at one of Brooklyn’s busiest intersections. “Grand Army Plaza is the gateway to Brooklyn’s backyard, Prospect Park, and it should welcome New Yorkers with street design that puts safety first,” Mamdani said. “Anyone who has tried to cross here knows how dangerous and chaotic the streets can be. This redesign is long overdue and will provide a sense of ease and enjoyment to one of Brooklyn’s most important public spaces.” NYC DOT will finalize the project’s design through a series of public workshops beginning April 23.

Mamdani’s First City-Owned Grocery Store to Cost $30M at La Marqueta as City Eyes Additional Sites Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s first unveiled city-owned grocery store will cost $30 million to build from the ground up at East Harlem’s La Marqueta, officials confirmed. The La Marqueta site, announced by Mamdani during a Sunday celebration of his first 100 days in office, may be the first selected for the mayor’s promised five city-owned grocery stores, but other locations will be picked and opened sooner, City Hall officials told The Post on Monday. Mamdani’s administration is searching for sites that do not require full ground-up construction, and the city has budgeted an initial $70 million for the stores. The selection of La Marqueta carries symbolic weight that Mamdani emphasized. His idol, former Mayor Fiorella La Guardia, established the marketplace in the 1930s as a place where working people could save money on fruits and vegetables. “We will continue his legacy,” Mamdani said. “We are building a brand-new store on city-owned land currently sitting empty in East Harlem, a neighborhood where nearly 40% of households received public assistance or SNAP in the past year.” La Marqueta is one of six public markets in New York City, including Essex Market and the Jamaica Farmers Market.

Vice President JD Vance on negotiations with Iran: I think it was the first time that you’d ever seen the Iranian government and the U.S. government meet at such a high level, maybe in the history of the current leadership of Iran. So that’s, I think, a positive. And again, we did make some progress in the negotiations. “The Iranians, I think, did make some progress. They moved in our direction, which is why I think we would say that we had some good signs. But they didn’t move far enough.” “And so what we decided is, you know what, given that we don’t think this current team and this current timeline is going to be able to make a deal, let them go back to Tehran, we’re going to go back to Washington, and that’s where we are today."

The main issue is currently one side is zoned for commercial and one for residential. If precedent were set to rezone as residential then the entire prospect street could become residential🤯( a major artery) Lakewood is a nightmare as is and there plenty of room in Jackson and Howell and Manchester etc to expand to . NJ Transit Unveils First Next-Generation Multilevel III Railcar NJ Transit on Monday unveiled the first of its next-generation Alstom Multilevel III railcars, part of a 374-car order to replace aging single-level equipment. The first car is one of 112 power cars in the order, which also includes 100 cab cars and 162 unpowered trailers. Developed by Alstom and NJ Transit, the power cars can combine with trailers, cab cars, and other power cars to form electric multiple-unit trainsets that operate without locomotives. A single power car can pull two unpowered coaches, and trains can be assembled with up to 14 cars. The prior two generations of Multilevel cars were unpowered. “The introduction of new rail cars, buses, and light rail vehicles is central to strengthening the reliability our customers depend on every day,” NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri said in a press release. “These investments are designed to deliver more consistent service while improving comfort, convenience, and accessibility across our system.” NJ Transit expects the new cars to run up to 400,000 miles without a mechanical failure, compared with 30,000 to 40,000 miles for the single-level GE-built Arrow III cars from 1977 and unpowered Bombardier Comet II and IV coaches. The new equipment can reach speeds of up to 110 mph, 30 mph faster than the older cars. Alstom Americas President Michael Keroullé said the cars fulfill promises by Kolluri and Gov. Mikie Sherrill for a strong, reliable rail system, with modern amenities, greater capacity, and a more comfortable ride. He said the vehicles are built in the United States by union employees. The NJ Transit cars are part of Alstom’s Adessia series of commuter rail cars, with more than 45,000 in use across 60 systems in 15 countries. Features include USB charging ports in every row and digital information signage. Alstom is building the cars at its plant in Plattsburgh, New York.

US Secretary Marco Rubio to helm Israel-Lebanon talks in Washington US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors in Washington on Tuesday to try to reduce rising hostilities between the two countries. The talks come amid fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and a broad Israeli ground invasion in southern Lebanon. They will focus on a possible ceasefire, the longer term disarming of Hezbollah, and a peace deal. A State Department official said that because of Hezbollah’s actions, Israel and Lebanon are now engaged in open, direct, high level talks brokered by the US. The discussion will address long term security along Israel’s northern border and support Lebanon’s efforts to restore full sovereignty. “Israel is at war with Hezbollah, not Lebanon, so there is no reason the two neighbors should not be talking,” the official said, according to Axios. Rubio will be joined by US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, State Department Counselor Michael Needham, Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, and Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh. It will be the highest level direct meeting between Israel and Lebanon since 1993. Tensions along the border remain high, with intermittent exchanges of fire and limited strikes raising fears of wider escalation. Israel has targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, while the terrorist group has launched rockets and drones toward northern Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier rejected direct talks proposed by Beirut, but agreed to preliminary engagement after pressure from President Trump to ease hostilities. Before the meeting, Lebanon and the Trump administration urged Israel to pause operations against Hezbollah. Netanyahu agreed to scale back airstrikes over Beirut, though ground operations in Bint Jbeil continued. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam canceled a planned US visit due to escalating tensions, security concerns, regional warnings, and protests at home over engaging with Israel while fighting with Hezbollah continues.

Suspect accused of throwing Molotov cocktail at OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's house charged with attempted murder A man accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s San Francisco home is facing attempted murder charges following an FBI raid on his Texas residence Monday. The suspect, 20-year-old Daniel Moreno-Gama, is accused of traveling from Spring, Texas, to San Francisco to target Altman’s home. The attack happened early Friday morning and caused an exterior gate to catch fire, but no one was injured, police said. He is currently in state custody in California and is expected to make his first state court appearance Tuesday, with a federal court date still pending. Moreno-Gama faces multiple state charges, including attempted murder, attempted arson, possession of a destructive device in a public place, possession of a destructive device with intent to injure or intimidate, exploding or igniting a destructive device with intent to murder, and attempted criminal threats. He also faces federal charges of attempted damage and destruction of property by means of explosives and possession of an unregistered firearm. If convicted on state charges, he could face 19 years to life in prison. Federal explosives charges carry a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years, while the firearms charge carries up to 10 years, plus possible fines and supervised release. According to an FBI affidavit, after allegedly throwing the Molotov cocktail, Moreno-Gama went to OpenAI’s headquarters and used a chair to strike the glass doors. Security said he stated he came to “burn it down and kill anyone inside.” Prosecutors also say he wrote a document taking responsibility for attempting to kill Altman, encouraging similar actions, and listing other AI company CEOs, board members, and investors. Authorities recovered multiple incendiary devices, a jug of kerosene, and a lighter at the time of his arrest. OpenAI said in a statement that the suspect had also made threats against its San Francisco headquarters.

Antisemitic attacks in 2025 caused highest number of deaths in 30 years, study finds Last year saw the highest level of deadly violence against Jews worldwide in more than three decades, with 20 people killed in antisemitic attacks, according to an annual study released Monday by Tel Aviv University. The violence, including a deadly Chanukah attack in Australia, continued a spike that began after the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023 massacre and Israel’s war in Gaza, the report’s authors said. Deadly attacks were recorded on three continents. Fifteen people were killed at a Chabad Chanukah at Sydney’s Bondi Beach in December. Additional deaths occurred in two antisemitic attacks in the U.S., in Washington, D.C. and Colorado, and in Britain, where two people were killed at a Manchester shul on Yom Kippur. The report is released annually by Tel Aviv University’s Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry and the Irwin Cotler Institute for Democracy, Human Rights and Justice ahead of Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, which begins Monday evening and commemorates the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust. It also found an increase in antisemitic attacks causing physical harm, including beatings and stone throwing, and said 2025 was the deadliest year for such attacks since 1994, when the bombing of a Jewish community center in Argentina killed 85 people and wounded more than 300. An Argentine court blamed Iran and its Hezbollah proxy. Overall incidents rose moderately compared with 2024 but were far higher than in 2022, before the Gaza war. The report tracks physical attacks, vandalism, verbal threats and online harassment. “The peak in incidents came immediately after the Oct. 7 attack, followed by a decline that did not continue in 2025,” said chief editor Uriya Shavit. In the United Kingdom, incidents rose to 3,700 in 2025 from 3,556 in 2024. In Canada, they increased from 6,219 to 6,800, more than triple the 2022 figure. Even after the Gaza ceasefire took effect last October, incidents continued to rise compared with the same period the previous year. In Australia, there were 588 incidents between October and December 2025, up from 492 in the same period in 2024, compared with 472 in all of 2022. Most physical attacks were carried out by individuals acting alone, making them difficult to prevent, said Carl Yonker, the study’s director of research. He said most attackers were extremist white Christians aligned with white supremacy or radical Muslims, and were often unemployed and struggling financially. The statistics are based on reports from police, national authorities and local Jewish communities.

Report Says United CEO Floated American Airlines Acquisition Idea, but Doubts Persist Bloomberg reports that Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, floated the idea of acquiring American Airlines during a February meeting with President Donald Trump. The report was backed by aviation analyst Jon Ostrower of The Air Current, who said the idea has been circulating for about a week. It comes amid broader industry talk about consolidation, with attention often focused on JetBlue Airways as a more likely merger candidate, both since JetBlue is looking for a merger partner, and also since Kirby has been very vocal about his interest in JetBlue. Delta’s CEO has made it clear he thinks we’ll see multiple mergers, and even the Transportation Secretary has said he’s generally in favor of consolidation. Kirby’s history with American adds context. He previously worked alongside Doug Parker, the former CEO of American and a central figure in airline consolidation, at America West in the 1990s, where they built a low-cost model before merging with US Airways and later taking over American. The airline has struggled relative to peers since that merger. Kirby was once seen as Parker’s successor but left in 2016 to join United, becoming CEO in 2020. At United, he has pushed a more premium strategy while continuing to criticize American, arguing the U.S. market can only sustain two premium carriers and warning that American risks falling behind. Despite the attention, Bloomberg’s report only indicates the idea was raised, not that a deal is in progress. Skepticism is widespread. A merger between American and United would combine two of the three remaining major U.S. network carriers, creating a dominant airline with significant power in key markets including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., and likely drawing intense regulatory scrutiny even in a more merger-friendly environment. Given those hurdles, some view the proposal as unlikely to materialize and potentially strategic. It could be posturing aimed at pressuring JetBlue in negotiations or shaping how regulators view smaller deals. Others see it as part of Kirby’s long-running criticism of American.

New York State bans employers from using credit history in hiring decisions starting Saturday Starting this Saturday, employers in New York State can no longer use credit history in the hiring process. The governor signed the bill into law in December. It takes effect statewide on April 18, 2026. New York City passed its own credit check ban in September. The bill also applies to an employer’s decision to fire or promote a current employee. A person’s credit history might affect a lot of other areas like renting or buying a home, but it will no longer have an impact on their ability to get a job. There are some exceptions to the rule. Employers can check credit history if the position requires security clearance or is in law enforcement, the position involves financial authority to enter the employer into agreements more than $10,000, and positions with regular access to trade secrets. Outside these specific circumstances, it’s now considered discrimination to use someone’s credit history against them when hiring. Sánchez Labels U.S.-Israeli Actions an "Illegal War" While Pivoting Toward Beijing Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is back to his usual rhetoric, again labeling the U.S. and Israeli actions an "illegal war." While he claims that sticking to "international law" is essential for the future, the irony is hard to ignore—he is delivering these lectures while currently in Beijing to shore up trade deals. The hypocrisy is on full display as Sánchez distances Spain from its democratic allies in Washington and Jerusalem while cozying up to the Chinese government. It seems his deep commitment to "basic principles" conveniently takes a backseat when there is economic investment on the line from an authoritarian regime.

'Corrupting our children': Bnei Brak moves to shut vending machines after 10 p.m. The Bnei Brak municipality on Sunday expanded a local bylaw banning restaurants and food stalls from operating after 10 p.m., extending the restriction to vending machines selling drinks and snacks after officials said the machines had become gathering points for youths. City officials said the original bylaw, which applied only to restaurants and food stands, was intended to prevent teenagers and yeshiva students from lingering outside study institutions in the evening and at night. But educational figures in the ultra-Orthodox city said that in recent months young people have instead been gathering around vending machines placed across the city. The amendment was introduced by City Council member Rabbi Ze’ev Lipschitz, who said some operators had found a workaround to the existing restrictions by using vending machines that were not subject to closing hours. In the proposal, Lipschitz pointed to two areas which he said were causing environmental, physical and, above all, “spiritual” harm. “Young men and women sit there until the early hours of the morning with devices,” the proposal said, referring to cellphones and other equipment, which it said they also charge at the sites. “How can a father send his 13-year-old son to evening prayers at the Synagogue without fearing for the child’s spirituality?” The proposal also said the issue was not limited to vending machines, alleging that a vendor at one site was selling cigarettes into the late-night hours in addition to refilling the machines. It called on the municipality to enforce the rules strictly and require such businesses to close as well. CBN- sounds like they have bigger issues in Bnei Braq than vending machines….🙈

Italy suspending defense agreement with Israel, says PM Meloni Italy is suspending its defense agreement with Israel, says Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. “In consideration of the current situation, the government has decided to suspend the automatic renewal of the defense agreement with Israel,” she tells reporters as she visits a wine festival in Verona. The 2003 Memorandum of Understanding was signed under Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, and set the stage for cooperation in defense and scientific research. The MoU was ratified by Italy in 2005, and is renewed automatically every five years. As Italians have taken to the streets since the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre en masse to denounce Israel, Meloni’s right-wing government has been under pressure over its position on the conflict. In September, she said at the UN that Italy will back some European Union sanctions against Israel over the war in the Gaza Strip, saying that Israel’s actions had crossed a line “violating humanitarian norms, causing a slaughter of civilians.”

Based of ur last post. I live in French hill I pay 6700 shek per month for a 90 meter apartment that’s brand new. It’s a third of the price of apartments that are half the size. French hill is nice but it’s like telling lakewood people to move to edison, it’s a totally separate neighborhood 2. I am currently living in Israel and whoever said 12-14 isn’t average in Ramat eshkol is living in lala land… maybe they locked in their rent at a lower price but average in Ramat Eshkol is at least 12. I know multiple ppl who recently looked for apartments ur lucky if u find anything normal for 11. All the new post tama apartments are driving the prices up and up. Yes u can live in French hill or get an old broken down apartment for cheaper but it comes with drawbacks. 3. Your last post has someone saying they paid 7.5 for a 2 bedroom…. I live there now there’s no such think anymore…. Average person is paying at least 10.5 and that’s for a non-renovated apartment all renovated apartments are at least 12 4.Regarding this I moved back after sukkos and moved to Lakewood our monthly expenses are significantly more here! Raskin offers bill setting up 25th Amendment process to remove Trump from office Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, on Tuesday introduced a bill to kick-start removing President Donald Trump under the 25th Amendment. The long-shot effort, backed by 50 Democratic co-sponsors, aims to refocus attention on the president’s mental fitness and recent rhetoric. The legislation would create a 17-member Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of Office to determine whether the president is incapacitated, either mentally or physically, under Section 4 of the amendment. It calls for the commission to carry out a medical examination within 72 hours of adoption. “We are at a dangerous precipice, and it is now a matter of national security for Congress to fulfill its responsibilities under the 25th Amendment to protect the American people from an increasingly volatile and unstable situation,” Raskin said. Despite growing calls to invoke the amendment, it has never been used to end a presidency and is highly unlikely to remove Trump. It would require the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unable to serve. If Trump disputed that, at least two-thirds of both the House and Senate would have to agree to remove him, a higher bar than impeachment and Senate conviction. This is not Raskin’s first move targeting Trump’s mental fitness. Last week, he called on the White House physician to conduct a comprehensive cognitive evaluation. The White House dismissed the request.
