IDF Eliminates Hamas Naval Cell Commander, Three Armed Terrorists in Gaza Strikes
JERUSALEM (VINnews)-The Israel Defense Forces eliminated a senior Hamas Naval Array cell commander and three additional armed terrorists in separate strikes in the Gaza Strip on Monday, the military said Tuesday.
In the Gaza City area, the IDF struck and killed Osama Naim Hamdi Shamlakh, a cell commander in Hamas’ Naval Array. Throughout the ongoing war and in recent operations, Shamlakh worked to rehabilitate and strengthen the terror group’s naval capabilities and to advance maritime terror attacks, according to the IDF.
In a separate strike in the northern Gaza Strip, IDF forces eliminated three armed Hamas terrorists who were attempting to carry out attacks against Israeli troops. The terrorists presented an immediate threat and were targeted with precise aerial strikes.
Prior to both operations, the IDF said it took steps to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
IDF troops operating under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act against any immediate threats, the military stated.
The strikes come amid ongoing efforts to counter Hamas attempts to rebuild its military infrastructure following the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel.
