5TC Followers Come Through Strong Donating Blood For Local Accident Victim

Jul 16, 2026·2 min read

5TC received the following heartfelt email from David Blatt of the New York Blood Center to the Sephardic Center:

David Blatt: “Good morning Avi,

Thank you for everything you did to make the Sephardic Congregation of the Five Towns July 13th blood drive an overwhelming success and with a brief window to recruit Donors. At your blood drive, 41 donors attempted to donate, resulting in 43 lifesaving blood donations. A special thank you to the 5 ‘Alyx’ Double Red Blood Cell Donors whose donation counted as two units towards the result. Of the 41 registered Donors, 16 made either their first lifetime blood donation or their first with New York Blood Center. New Donors are critical to the future of blood donation. I find it remarkable to convince new Donors to roll up their sleeves. This reflects your advocacy for blood donation. Thank you! The Donors at the Sephardic Congregation of the Five Towns on July 13th blood drive benefitted 129 patients in need. This is an accomplishment everyone can be proud of.

Thank you again for hosting your blood drive on July 13, 2026. We only meet our mission thanks to thousands of dedicated blood drive sponsors and your loyal blood donors.

Sephardic Center: “A large portion of those donors and those 129 lives saved were from your posts and I am happy to report we were able to restock the blood used to save our friend Moshe Ben Dina. Last I heard ,he is on the mend, the surgeries went well and gd willing he will continue to improve and come home.

Due to an extremely low level of blood we are still experiencing an urgent blood emergency!! Our next drive is at the non stop minyanim Hachaim Vehashalom on Cedarhurst Ave and willow on Cedarhurst July 27 from 3-9.

Thank you for your support and help.”

We thank all who came out to donate, and wish Moshe ben Dina a complete recovery!
