WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews) – President Trump announced Tuesday that he is directing his administration to permit all U.S. airline carriers to operate direct flights to Lebanon, aiming to facilitate American travel to the country.
“After meeting with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, who has done a remarkable job working to transform his Country, I am hereby directing my Administration to allow all U.S. airline carriers to fly directly to Lebanon so that Americans can easily visit this beautiful land,” Trump said in a statement.
“Hopefully, other Countries will do the same. Enjoy!” he added.
The announcement comes following Trump’s meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. Trump praised Aoun’s efforts to transform Lebanon, which has faced years of political instability, economic crisis and security challenges.
U.S. airlines have long faced restrictions on direct service to Lebanon due to safety and security concerns. The new directive seeks to ease those limitations and boost travel between the two nations.
