Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles Responds to Your ‘Ask The Mayor’ Questions: Trash Cans
The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Firstly, thank you for providing this ability to reach out with our concerns.
I live in a neighborhood off of Sunset Rd. Lately, the drivers of the garbage trucks have been extremely rough. Quite off the cans are left tumbled on the ground, sometimes garbage fallen out. I do not overstuff my cans, and I leave room on the side of each can to make it easier for them, but it doesn’t help. See picture attached. The lid of the green can (relatively new can) was smashed in, both cans left laying on the ground. My neighbor was left with one can in the middle of the street. Why the roughness? Are the trucks broken, that they can’t lower the cans properly?
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I know our public works directors spoke to several drivers about issues like this last week. I will ask him to talk to them again to let them know this is not acceptable
