JERUSALEM (VINnews)-An Israeli civilian was seriously wounded Thursday morning in a stabbing attack at a farming outpost near the Judea-Samaria settlement of Elon Moreh, Israeli officials said.

The 51-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at the Derech Avraham outpost, also known as Avraham’s Way Farm, while helping extinguish a fire in the area, according to the Israel Defense Forces. The fire broke out near the nearby Itamar settlement. The IDF said the blaze was set by Palestinians from the adjacent town of Beit Furik.

Magen David Adom emergency services treated the victim at the scene and said he was in serious condition. He was evacuated by helicopter from the IDF’s Unit 669 for further hospital treatment. Medical personnel reported he was conscious.

Two Palestinian assailants who carried out the stabbing were shot dead at the scene, the IDF said. Another Israeli civilian present identified the attack and neutralized both attackers, according to the military. Early reports had left open whether security forces or armed civilians fired the shots.

IDF forces imposed a closure on Beit Furik and were conducting searches in the area. Investigators from the Judea and Samaria District of the Israel Fire and Rescue Services, along with police from the Samaria and Judea District, began examining the circumstances of the fire.

The IDF said it received an initial report of a stabbing and that further details remained under review.
