London’s Mayor Says Netanyahu Would Face Arrest if He Visits

Jul 24, 2026·1 min read

LONDON (VINnews) – London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in a Thursday television interview that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would face arrest if he traveled to the United Kingdom, citing the International Criminal Court warrant issued against the Israeli leader.

Khan’s remarks came after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he lacked the legal authority to order Netanyahu’s arrest if Netanyahu visits New York for the U.N. General Assembly. Mamdani has nevertheless urged federal authorities to enforce the ICC warrant.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in 2024 for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes in Gaza. Israel rejects the allegations and disputes the court’s jurisdiction.

President Donald Trump has said Netanyahu would not be arrested while visiting the United States.

The Mayor of London sat down with Channel 4 News Home Affairs Correspondent Symeon Brown to discuss whether the UK would enforce the ICC arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
