NEW YORK (VINnews) — Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after the mayor acknowledged he lacks the authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a planned visit to New York.

In a series of posts Sunday responding to a video posted by Mamdani on X, Kuzma, who has more than 1.3 million followers on the platform, accused the mayor of “cosplaying” as president and said he was more focused on appearances than governing.

“This is 2026. People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content,” Kuzma wrote. He added, “A mayor playing president. … Everyone auditioning. Nobody building,” before concluding, “Don’t fall for distractions.”

Mamdani released the video last week calling Netanyahu a “war criminal” but acknowledged his administration had found no legal authority to arrest the Israeli leader during his expected visit to New York for the U.N. General Assembly in September, despite reviewing possible legal options.

The mayor’s comments came after President Donald Trump said Netanyahu would not be arrested while in the United States. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in 2024 on allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Israel rejects the allegations, and neither the United States nor Israel recognizes the court’s jurisdiction.
