ROME (VINnews)-The United States, Israel and Lebanon are expected to meet in Rome from Aug. 4-6 for high-level talks aimed at expanding the Israel Defense Forces’ redeployment process in southern Lebanon, resolving outstanding border disputes and advancing a broader peace and security agreement, officials said.

The U.S. State Department described “significant momentum” behind the effort, citing progress after the first pilot zone was established in southern Lebanon and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s recent meeting with President Trump.

The talks are intended to build on recent diplomatic contacts and operational steps on the ground as the parties seek to stabilize the border area and move toward a longer-term arrangement.
