JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to present U.S. President Donald Trump with intelligence obtained by Israeli security agencies indicating that Iran is expanding its nuclear facilities at the mysterious “Pickaxe Mountain” site, and that the regime is misleading negotiators about its willingness to pursue peace talks, according to a source in Jerusalem cited by the New York Post.

Netanyahu and Trump are scheduled to meet on Tuesday, with Iran’s war and nuclear program expected to dominate the discussions. During the meeting, the Israeli delegation will present evidence of Tehran’s latest nuclear activities and argue that Iran is not negotiating in good faith. At the same time, The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel has uncovered evidence showing that nuclear centrifuges were recently transported to the secretive “Pickaxe Mountain” facility for the first time since construction of the site began in 2020.

The underground complex, located more than 90 meters (295 feet) beneath Mount Kolang near the Natanz nuclear facility, has long been suspected of playing a role in Iran’s nuclear program. Until now, however, there had been no evidence of active nuclear operations at the site, a point Trump previously cited as the reason it had not been targeted. Just last week, the U.S. president downplayed reports of activity there, telling reporters that the United States had no intelligence confirming such developments.

More recently, however, Trump has reportedly signaled a willingness to strike the underground facility. According to various reports, U.S. forces have even prepared for a possible ground operation to seize hundreds of kilograms of enriched uranium believed to be stored beneath the mountain.

The Jerusalem source added that Israel will also present evidence that Iran has already begun rebuilding its missile and drone programs, which were severely damaged in the recent series of U.S. airstrikes. The intelligence is intended to demonstrate that Tehran has no intention of abandoning either its nuclear ambitions or its missile program as part of any ceasefire negotiations with Washington.

Over the weekend, Trump decided to pause the nearly two-week-long bombing campaign against Iran amid renewed diplomatic efforts to halt Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. Alongside the intelligence regarding Iran’s activities, Netanyahu is also expected to brief the president on efforts to preserve the ceasefires in Lebanon and Gaza.
