NEW YORK (VINnews) — A 105-year-old Navy vet took a daring leap on items on his bucket list, skydiving out of a plane.
Spurgeon “Butch” Carlson did a tandem jump Sunday afternoon to mark his birthday. His family, friends, and members of the community stood by as he marked another memory on the list.
“I didn’t think he would dare, but he says he’s going to do it, “I can do it, I can do it,” said Mickey McAvoy, the eldest daughter of Carlson.

Carlson has made a tradition of marking his birthdays with extraordinary adventures. For his 104th birthday, he went horseback riding for the first time in his life alongside his then 99-year-old brother. This year, he crossed skydiving off his bucket list, inspiring thousands after videos of the jump went viral on social media.
Now just one year younger than the Guinness World Record holder for the oldest person to skydive, Carlson says age has never stopped him from embracing new experiences, proving it’s never too late to chase a dream.
