JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has considered the possibility of being forced to make an emergency landing in a country that recognizes the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against him, but suggested Israel’s special forces would be prepared to respond if necessary.

During an interview Tuesday night on Fox News with Sean Hannity, Netanyahu was asked whether he worries that a medical emergency could force his aircraft to land in a country that recognizes the ICC warrant, potentially exposing him to arrest.

“Yes, I think about it,” Netanyahu replied.

He then added, “We have special forces around. I served for five years.”

Hannity responded by noting that the Israel Defense Forces have a reputation for being a formidable military force. Smiling, Netanyahu replied, “Let’s give them a new task.”

The exchange comes as Netanyahu continues to travel abroad despite the ICC’s arrest warrant, which was issued as part of the court’s investigation into the war in Gaza. Israel rejects the court’s jurisdiction and has denounced the warrant as politically motivated.
