The U.S. Department of State announced today that it is making an additional 250,000 commemorative “Patriot Passports” available nationwide after the special-edition passports generated overwhelming public demand.

Released as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, the commemorative passports feature custom artwork connecting America’s founding to the present day. According to the State Department, the design includes a portrait of President Donald J. Trump alongside the text of the Declaration of Independence, a Freedom 250 gold flag, and an image depicting the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence.

The commemorative passports are being made available through special Passport 250 application events at select passport agencies and centers across the country, as well as through appointments at the Washington Passport Agency in Washington, D.C.

There are no Passport 250 events scheduled in New Jersey. For residents in the Lakewood area, the closest opportunities are:

• Stamford, Connecticut: Saturday, August 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
• Buffalo, New York: Tuesday, August 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Saturday, August 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Officials said appointments are required to obtain a Patriot Passport, and interested applicants can view all participating locations and schedule an appointment through the State Department’s website.
