BAT YAM, Israel — A 60-year-old man is fighting for his life after being pulled unconscious from the Mediterranean Sea at a Bat Yam beach on Friday afternoon.
The man was rescued from the water near Sunset Beach by lifeguards after apparently getting into distress while swimming. When emergency personnel arrived, they found him without a pulse and not breathing.
United Hatzalah medics immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts in an attempt to revive him before transporting him to the hospital. CPR continued throughout the evacuation.
Shmuel Malka, head of United Hatzalah’s Bat Yam branch, together with EMTs Yaakov Ladkani and Orel Zada, described the incident.
“We were informed at the scene that he had drowned and was pulled from the water by the lifeguards. We performed resuscitation efforts on him, and he was then evacuated to the hospital while CPR continued. He is in critical condition.”
Emergency crews worked quickly to stabilize the victim before he was rushed to the hospital. He remains in critical condition as medical teams continue efforts to save his life.
