Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir confronted a convicted terrorist during a visit to an Israeli prison after the inmate complained about her prison conditions, telling her that the days when security prisoners enjoyed comfortable treatment were over.

During the tour, Ben Gvir met with the imprisoned terrorist, who voiced a series of complaints about conditions inside the facility.

Pinned to the minister’s shirt was a gold lapel pin shaped like a hangman’s noose, symbolizing his support for legislation that would authorize the death penalty for terrorists.

Because the inmate spoke Arabic, Ben Gvir communicated through an interpreter, who translated the minister’s remarks into Arabic and the prisoner’s responses into Hebrew.

The terrorist complained that prison conditions had become difficult, alleging that the food was poor, the water was unclean, inmates were not receiving proper medical treatment, and that they were not being allowed out of their cells. She also claimed that the conditions had caused her to suffer from depression.

Ben Gvir dismissed the complaints, responding that prison was never intended to provide comfort for terrorists.

“The food does not need to be good. This is not a hotel.”

He went on to say that those who commit serious crimes against the State of Israel and the Jewish people should expect to face the consequences of their actions.

“Once this place was a hotel. Today it is no longer a hotel,” the minister told the inmate. “The hotel is over. This is the State of Israel.”

Ben Gvir concluded the exchange with a direct message to the prisoner.

“Anyone who commits a crime against the Jewish people should think about what they did. Don’t come back here.”
