JORDAN VALLEY (VINnews) — A soldier in training at the Hasmonean Brigade’s training base in the Jordan Valley was severely wounded Tuesday evening in an apparent accidental discharge, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The soldier was taken to a hospital in serious condition after being shot. His family has been notified, according to the IDF.

Military Police have opened an investigation into the incident and are examining the possibility that the gunfire resulted from mishandling or playing with a weapon by a soldier. The findings will be transferred to the Military Advocate General for review, the IDF said.
