Aug 5, 2026·1 min read

According to ZAKA, the man entered the water with members of his family, but at some point disappeared beneath the waves. Family members searched frantically along the shoreline and in the water for approximately two hours.

The search came to a heartbreaking end when a powered paraglider flying over the area spotted the man floating in the water. Local rescue personnel recovered him, but were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.

Chaim Weingarten, ZAKA’s Deputy Director of Operations, said, “This is a devastating tragedy. The deceased entered the sea together with his family, and at some point he disappeared. For about two hours, family members searched for him on the beach and in the water until a powered paraglider flying overhead spotted him floating in the sea. Tragically, local rescue teams had no choice but to pronounce him dead. ZAKA remains in constant contact with the family and, together with the Foreign Ministry, is working with the local authorities to assist the family and bring the deceased to kevurah in Israel as quickly as possible.”
