What's Happening

Maimonides' leadership is seeking to transfer the hospital to a New York City run public hospital system. If approved, Maimonides would no longer be an independent, community-rooted hospital. Decisions affecting our care would ultimately be made by a city-run system, not by leaders accountable to our community.

This is not speculation. The proposal is currently tied up in court and is being challenged by trustees, local shuls, Hatzolah coordinators, and community organizations working to stop the takeover.

What's at Stake

A city takeover could mean more bureaucracy, longer wait times, less local accountability, a decline in the quality of care, and growing uncertainty about preserving the religious and cultural accommodations our community depends on.

Once control is gone, getting it back may be impossible.
