A new move by the British government is threatening to deal a significant financial blow to the yeshiva world, as authorities have launched investigations into British Chareidi donors who contributed to several Torah institutions located beyond the Green Line.

According to a report by Ari Kalman of i24NEWS, British authorities have recently notified a number of donors that they are under investigation for transferring funds to Chareidi yeshivos operating in those areas.

The investigations come in the wake of Britain’s recognition of a Palestinian state and its policy prohibiting assistance to Israeli communities beyond the Green Line. As part of that policy shift, several British citizens who donated to Torah institutions there have already received formal notices that they are being investigated.

In response, the Association of Yeshivos and Seminaries for Overseas Students urgently appealed on Wednesday to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Education Minister Yoav Kisch, and Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, calling on them to intervene immediately before the investigations expand further.

The organization warned that if the probe broadens, it could severely damage the fundraising network on which many yeshivos depend and significantly undermine their financial stability.
