Report: Trump Privately Tells Donors He Wants Vance to Win 2028 Election
WASHINGTON D.C. (VINnews) – President Donald Trump recently told donors he wants Vice President JD Vance to win the 2028 presidential election, according to a report by The Washington Post, signaling he could eventually back Vance as his preferred successor.
The newspaper, citing people familiar with the private remarks, reported that Trump has made the comments behind closed doors while continuing to publicly leave open the question of whom he would support in the next Republican presidential primary.
According to the report, some Trump advisers cautioned that the president has not made a final decision and continues to encourage competition among potential contenders, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump has repeatedly declined to endorse a 2028 candidate publicly, saying it is too early to make such a decision.
