An 18-month-old girl tragically lost her life on Thursday after drowning in the swimming pool of a private home in Ashkelon. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by emergency responders and hospital staff, doctors were unable to save her.

Emergency teams from Magen David Adom rushed to the scene and immediately began providing advanced medical treatment. The toddler was transported to Barzilai Medical Center while lifesaving measures continued, but physicians were ultimately forced to pronounce her dead.

According to MDA, the young girl was unconscious and showed no signs of life when paramedics arrived. She had no pulse and was not breathing. She was evacuated in critical condition as crews continued CPR en route to the hospital.

EMTs Roi Lasri and Gavriel Kucherenko described the emergency response: “When we arrived at the private home, an approximately one-and-a-half-year-old girl was brought to us unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing.”

They added, “We immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, assisted ventilation, and the administration of medication. While continuing CPR, we evacuated her to the hospital in critical condition as we fought to save her life.”
