MEXICO (VINnews) – A 4-year-old boy, the grandson of prominent Israeli Rabbi Shalom Arush, drowned in a swimming pool during a family vacation in Mexico, according to reports.

The boy, Shalom Seginer, was the son of Rabbi Asaf and Rivka Seginer and the grandson of Arush, head of the Chut Shel Chesed institutions in Jerusalem.

Local emergency responders were called to the scene and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts, but the child was pronounced dead.

In a statement, the family described Seginer as a “pure and innocent” child and said, “May Hashem comfort us and heal our broken hearts.”

Funeral arrangements and plans to bring the boy’s body to Israel were expected to be announced later.
