[Video below.] Hunter Biden sharply criticized President Donald Trump during a lengthy conversation with Tucker Carlson, calling him an “existential threat” to the United States in the latest appearance on a media tour that has increasingly included interviews with prominent conservative personalities.

The interview, released Monday on Carlson’s podcast, marked another notable stop for Biden, who has recently sought out conversations with conservative hosts despite years of political conflict. Biden and Carlson have known each other for roughly three decades, even though Carlson was one of his most vocal critics during the 2020 presidential campaign and throughout Joe Biden’s presidency.

Biden said his outreach to conservative media has been intentional. Earlier this year, he appeared on Candace Owens’ podcast and spoke favorably about that experience during his discussion with Carlson.

“I love Candace,” he said.

Both Carlson and Owens have recently become outspoken critics of several Trump administration policies, including the war with Iran.

During the interview, Biden argued that Trump represents a unique danger to the nation, describing him as far more than merely a product of broader political problems.

“The one existential threat that I think we all face as a country,” Biden said, adding that Trump is more than “the symptom of a disease” but is “central to why this disease has gone from a local epidemic to a pandemic in the United States of America.”

Carlson also reflected on his own relationship with Trump, discussing his unsuccessful efforts to persuade the president against entering the conflict with Iran.

“I overstated my own influence, like, dramatically, in a very embarrassing way — and my importance,” Carlson said, adding that he was “humiliated, correctly.”

Despite that disappointment, Carlson said he ultimately viewed the experience as valuable.

He said he was “grateful” for that experience, however.

In recent months, Carlson has increasingly hinted at the possibility of launching a new political movement or even a third party. He recently convened a meeting of disaffected MAGA figures—including former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie—and has outlined what he described as a 10-point platform during a recent episode of his show.
