Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles Responds to Your ‘Ask The Mayor’ Questions: Bus Stop; Construction and Waze
The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Dear Mayor,
Thanks for always listening and trying to make our town the best it is.
The bus stop on Rt 9 and 5th street north bound in my opinion is in the wrong place. It’s 10 ft off 5th street and whenever the bus stops it could be a 3-5 minute stop and it blocks the 5th st traffic.
Is it possible to get the stop moved 15-20 feet closer to 6th street so it doesn’t block the traffic.
Thanks
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for picking up on that. We need to get NJ Transit to approve the move, but I will ask our engineer to reach out to them to get the process started.
Take Care
Ray
Question:
Dear Mr. Mayor,
We are very thankful that the Township and the utilities have scheduled much work during this month when the streets are quieter. It shows much consideration to frustrated residents.
However, it’s a bit much. I tried to get home (Sunset area) from the Post Office on Swarthmore today. After going down New Hampshire and Pine, I hit a detour on Pine, and ended up back on Cedarbridge. I wasn’t sure if I could head down MLK Drive back to Pine, so I went further up Cedarbridge and hit traffic due to lanes closed by Oberlin. Things like this happen daily.
Is there a way the Township could report street closures to Waze in real-time, so we can take the best route on our first try?
Thanks,
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good afternoon
I will ask traffic and safety if there is a way to alert Wayz to planned closures.
Thanks
Ray
