JERUSALEM (VINnews) — An Israeli television crew from i24NEWS’ Hebrew-language sister channel was attacked over the weekend while filming a documentary on rising antisemitism in Europe in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Reporter Yonatan Raveh and cameraman Nadav Abbas were conducting street interviews outside a well-known bar complex when a local man realized they were members of an Israeli news crew. According to i24NEWS, the man began disrupting the filming and attempted to seize the crew’s camera equipment.

When he was unable to take the camera, the suspect continued to interfere with the recording, making obscene gestures toward the lens and forcing the crew to halt production.

The journalists attempted to deescalate the situation and leave the area, but the man allegedly followed them in a threatening manner. The crew then approached nearby security personnel and asked them to contact police.

Before officers arrived, the suspect reportedly threw a large glass beer mug at close range, striking cameraman Nadav Abbas in the head and causing a laceration.

Following the attack, the crew left the scene safely. Abbas did not require additional medical treatment, and the team returned to Israel after completing their assignment.
