Iran Army Chief Offers $30,000 Bounty for Killing or Capturing U.S. Soldiers
Iran’s military has announced a $30,000 reward for the capture or killing of American military personnel, according to a report by the Iranian WANA news agency citing Iranian Army commander Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami.
According to the report, the reward would be doubled if the attack is carried out by a woman.
Hatami said the money would be financed through a public funding initiative involving the Iranian people, with the reward to be given to an Iranian force that succeeds in attacking an American servicemember.
The announcement comes amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington over the U.S. military presence in the region, Iran’s nuclear program and economic sanctions.
Iranian officials have previously promoted similar initiatives targeting senior officials of other countries.
Iranian Vice President Ebrahim Azizi previously announced a parliamentary proposal offering a €50 million reward for the killing of President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper.
