
Orangetown Police have released additional details following an overnight shooting that left a man seriously injured in the Village of Nyack.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 12:01 a.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired near Depew Avenue and South Franklin Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male lying in the grass near 403 Nyack Plaza with multiple gunshot wounds.
Patrol officers immediately rendered first aid before Nyack Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics arrived and continued medical treatment. The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries.
Police said the shooter fled the scene before officers arrived, and an extensive search of the surrounding area did not locate a suspect. Detectives from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Clarkstown Police Department assisted Orangetown Police with the investigation.
Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and said there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to the public.
