SUFFERN: Driver Arrested for DWI After Crashing Into Utility Pole on Washington Avenue

A driver was arrested for DWI after crashing into a utility pole in Suffern late Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. at 16 Washington Avenue, where a vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole with enough force to snap it in half.

Suffern Police, the Suffern Fire Department, and Faist EMS responded to the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries and was evaluated by EMS.

Due to the extensive damage to the utility pole, Orange & Rockland Utilities was requested to the scene to replace the damaged infrastructure and ensure the area was safe.

Following an investigation, the driver was arrested for DWI. The incident remains under investigation by the Suffern Police Department.
