Ramapo Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Reckless E-Bike Riders
The Ramapo Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals who allegedly rode e-bike motorcycles recklessly and fled from an officer Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 16, at approximately 3:54 p.m. A Ramapo Police officer was traveling eastbound on Route 59 in front of 7-Eleven when he attempted to safely move to the right to allow a Faist EMS ambulance responding to a medical emergency to pass.
As the officer moved over, two e-bike motorcycles reportedly passed on the officer’s right, blocking the maneuver. Police said the reckless driving continued onto Campbell Avenue, where one of the riders crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic.
After the riders turned into the Bon Aire community, the officer attempted to stop them. However, both riders fled southbound on Bon Aire Circle toward the Village of Suffern. Due to concerns for the safety of the public and the riders, the officer did not pursue.
The Ramapo Police Department is asking anyone who recognizes the individuals or has information that could help identify them from the released photograph to contact the department at (845) 357-2400.
Police emphasized that community assistance plays an important role in helping identify those responsible for dangerous behavior and keeping local roadways safe.
