Drivers traveling on the Queens-bound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway should prepare for overnight delays this week as NYC DOT carries out repair work near Joralemon Street.

Beginning early Tuesday, July 21, only one lane will remain open on the Queens-bound BQE between Atlantic Avenue and Cranberry Street. The restriction will be in effect from 12:00 a.m. until 5 a.m. each morning and is expected to continue through approximately Thursday, July 23.

The Atlantic Avenue entrance ramp to the Queens-bound BQE will also be closed during those hours.

Motorists will be able to reach the Queens-bound BQE by following posted detours through local streets. Drivers heading east on Atlantic Avenue can use Boerum Place and Tillary Street, while those approaching from the west can travel through Furman Street, Old Fulton Street, Prospect Street, and Sands Street.

The overnight closures are needed for joint repairs on the bridge at Joralemon Street and may be adjusted depending on weather and field conditions.

Drivers traveling during the early morning hours should allow extra time and watch for detour signs around the work zone.
