Police have arrested a woman accused of breaking into apartments at an assisted living facility in Kiryat Gat and stealing personal belongings from elderly residents, including Holocaust survivors.

The investigation began over the weekend after police received reports that three apartments inside the facility had been burglarized. According to investigators, cash, cell phones, and other personal property were stolen from the victims.

Detectives quickly gathered evidence and identified the suspect, who was arrested and taken in for questioning. Police allege she entered the assisted living complex and targeted three apartments belonging to elderly residents, some of whom are Holocaust survivors.

Following her interrogation, the suspect was jailed, and a court extended her detention as the investigation continues.

Kiryat Gat Police Commander Supt. Shay Elali condemned the alleged crimes, saying elderly residents—especially Holocaust survivors—were targeted in a place that should have provided them with safety and security. He praised investigators for swiftly identifying and arresting the suspect, adding that police will continue pursuing criminals who prey on vulnerable members of society.
