
LAKEWOOD: 20-Year-Old Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle
A 20-year-old Lakewood resident remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night in Lakewood.
According to the Lakewood Township Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:59 p.m. to the intersection of James Street and Ridgeway Place for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the victim unconscious as Hatzolah EMS provided emergency medical care. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling westbound on James Street before turning onto Ridgeway Place, where the collision occurred. The driver remained at the scene, immediately called 911, and showed no signs of impairment.
The Lakewood Police Department’s Traffic and Safety Unit has taken over the investigation, which remains active. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that may assist investigators to contact the Lakewood Township Police Department.
“Our thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones during this difficult time,” said Police Chief Gregory Meyer. “Our Traffic and Safety Unit is conducting a thorough investigation to determine exactly what occurred.”
