Morocco will host the first training program for a multinational force expected to operate in the Gaza Strip under President Trump’s peace plan, Kan News reports.

The initial training is expected to begin in the coming weeks and will prepare thousands of troops for deployment. Morocco joined the force only last week, but with the backing of Israeli security officials, it is expected to play a major role by overseeing the training program.

Representatives from the American command center in Kiryat Gat recently arrived in Rabat and are working with Moroccan military officials to organize the first training cycle. The program is expected to include weapons training, physical fitness and additional military instruction.

Officials from the Peace Council said Morocco is preparing to send approximately 500 soldiers to Gaza. So far, Morocco, Kosovo, Kazakhstan and Albania have agreed to contribute troops. Indonesia, which previously announced plans to send around 800 soldiers, has not yet joined the multinational force or requested access to the Kiryat Gat command center.

The foreign troops are expected to begin operating in territory under Israeli control and will secure the planned “New Rafah,” a city that the United Arab Emirates is expected to build and which is intended to be designated free of Hamas.

Despite progress in organizing the force, no date has yet been set for the soldiers to enter Gaza. The earliest expected deployment is at the beginning of next year.
