A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance’s protective detail has been placed on administrative leave amid an internal investigation into the alleged leak of sensitive information about the vice president’s travel plans, according to multiple reports.

CNN, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the agent is suspected of providing details to members of the media regarding Vance’s travel schedule. A second source confirmed that officials have identified a person believed to be responsible for the leak.

The investigation is being handled by the Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility. It remains unclear whether any criminal charges will be filed.

According to the report, investigators believe the agent was a source for a recent news article describing frustration among members of Vance’s protective detail over the vice president’s personal travel schedule.

The report also included details about a planned trip in which Vance was expected to fly with his son aboard a Marine Corps helicopter to a golf lesson. That trip was ultimately canceled, but officials were reportedly alarmed that such operational information had been disclosed.
