Iranians Fear Escalation As War Drags On: “Finish Off These Terrorists”
As U.S. and Iranian forces exchange strikes for a 12th straight night, Iranian civilians say fear is growing over the possibility of a prolonged war and the destruction of critical infrastructure.
Residents of Tehran and Mashhad told Israel’s N12 News that security checkpoints have multiplied, regime forces are more visible on the streets, and many fear the conflict will either spiral into a devastating war of attrition or end without bringing change.
“We’ve been paying the price of this dictatorship for 47 years,” one resident said. “Our fear is that the Islamic Republic will survive and the fighting will only lead to Iran’s collapse.”
Others accused the regime of ignoring the suffering of ordinary Iranians while enriching itself and warned that more civilians could face arrest or even execution on espionage charges simply for documenting damage from the fighting.
Several interviewees also voiced support for stronger action against the regime.
“Finish the job with these terrorists,” one Tehran resident said in a message directed at President Trump and Israel. “Any destruction can be rebuilt, but if they remain in power, they will drag the entire world into ruin.”
