We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Binyomin Engel, a longtime Monsey resident who was renowned for his ehrlichkeit and yiras Shomayim.
He was born in the town of Linz, in a DP camp, to his father, Reb Yehuda Aryeh Engel, an ardent Viznitzer chossid from back home.
He was raised in Viznitz, and raised his children as Viznitzer chassidim of the Toras Mordechai, zt"l.
For many years, he served as the gabbai of the Bais Yisroel Shul on Main Street, an avodas hakodesh that he carried out with great devotion.
He was also the proprietor of the Champion Locksmith shop on Main Street, where he was renowned for his honesty and straightness.
He suffered with illness for a number of years, but he accepted the gezeira with love and silence. He never complained and never doubted the ways of Hashem.
He leaves behind beautiful generations of chassidim and yirei Shomayim who follow in his ways.
The levaya will take place at 10:45 at the Viznitzer Beis Medrash on Phyllis Terrace.
