Previously unreleased documentary footage offers a rare look at the late Senator Lindsey Graham’s efforts to persuade President Trump and other world leaders to take stronger military action against Iran, according to The Wall Street Journal.

In early March, Graham planned to travel to Florida to urge President Trump to have the United States join an Israeli operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, advised him during a March 4 phone call not to widen the conflict while Israel and the United States were focused on Iran.

“We’re concentrating right now on Iran,” Netanyahu told Graham, warning that a major attack on Hezbollah could prompt the terrorist organization to launch an all-out response. Graham accepted the warning, replying, “That’s actually good counsel.”

The footage was recorded by filmmaker Alex Holder, who followed Graham beginning in 2023 and received extensive access to his meetings, travels and private conversations. It shows Graham speaking with military commanders and senior officials, meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and traveling to see Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as he sought support for military action against Iran.

Shortly after U.S. strikes against Iran began in February, Graham celebrated the operation and said he had spoken with President Trump that morning. The senator also argued that the fall of the Iranian regime could help clear the way for normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The footage later captured Graham’s frustration with officials who opposed entering the war and with what he viewed as insufficient public support for the campaign. During one conversation, he predicted that Iran could begin losing control of cities within several weeks, an assessment that proved overly optimistic.

Holder is reviewing hundreds of hours of footage for a documentary tentatively titled Lindsey’s Game. Graham approved the project before his death, hoping it would explain his long Senate career and encourage others to enter public service.
