REPORT: Anonymous Source Claims Trump Is “Deteriorating Before Our Eyes,” But Public Medical Report Says He’s Fit
An anonymous source quoted by veteran British journalist Andrew Neil has claimed that President Donald Trump is experiencing a physical and mental decline, fueling renewed speculation about the 80-year-old president’s health despite a recent official medical report declaring him fit for office.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Neil said a person who meets regularly with Trump told him, “Donald is deteriorating before our eyes.”
According to Neil, the source claimed the president has become increasingly frustrated and aggressive, and that some people around him are concerned his condition could worsen. The comments come as Trump faces mounting pressure amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, although there is no medical evidence linking the stress of the crisis to any decline in his health.
Separately, more dramatic claims have circulated on social media. Adam James, a physical therapist who says he has experience treating elderly patients, alleged—based on an unidentified source—that Trump suffers from heart failure and chronic kidney disease and is receiving intravenous medications.
However, James has never examined the president and has no access to Trump’s medical records. Medical experts have repeatedly warned that it is not possible to diagnose someone based on photographs, videos, or anonymous secondhand accounts.
The White House has previously confirmed that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition that can cause swelling in the legs but is not the same as heart failure. Bruising visible on his hands has been attributed to frequent handshakes and his use of aspirin.
The most recent official medical evaluation paints a very different picture. In a report released following Trump’s annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in late May, White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella concluded that the president is in “excellent health” and is fully fit to carry out the duties of the presidency.
According to the report, Trump demonstrated normal cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological function and scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a widely used screening test for cognitive impairment. The report also noted that Trump weighs approximately 238 pounds and recommended weight loss and increased physical activity.
The official report has not ended the political debate. Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin has called on the White House physician to release additional details from Trump’s neurological and cognitive evaluations.
