The United States is considering gradually expanding its target list in Iran to include bridges, major roads, supply lines, civilian infrastructure, electricity networks, energy stations and facilities vital to Iranian state institutions and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to Lebanon’s Nidaa Al-Watan newspaper.

Washington is not seeking an all-out regional war or relying on a single decisive strike. Instead, the U.S. administration views time and sustained attrition as tools for weakening Iran’s military, economic and logistical capabilities and pushing the regime to accept American conditions.

The message was conveyed to Lebanon’s leadership during President Joseph Aoun’s visit to Washington and his meeting with President Trump. U.S. officials stressed that pressure on Tehran would continue and that the next stage could include a calculated escalation intended to reduce the Iranian leadership’s room to maneuver.

Washington believes the accumulation of damage would eventually make continuing the confrontation far more costly than accepting the proposed settlement. The pressure campaign could also accelerate internal divisions and instability within the Iranian regime.

Nidaa Al-Watan said American officials believe Iran is already entering a stage of exhaustion. The newspaper also cited uncertainty over Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s health and ability to control the centers of power, while emphasizing that no conclusive information confirms his death.
