Israeli Defense Minister ישראל כ”ץ said Tuesday that Israel is prepared to launch additional strikes against Iran but is currently being restrained by the United States, citing broader American strategic interests in the region.

Speaking at Israel’s Channel 14 Security Conference, Katz said Israel would like to target Iran’s energy infrastructure, but Washington has withheld approval over concerns that such attacks could trigger a global oil crisis and provoke retaliation against neighboring countries.

“The United States has interests in Iran that go beyond Israel’s specific concerns, including the Strait of Hormuz and global energy markets,” Katz said. He added that Israel, for its part, is prepared to inflict severe damage on Iran’s capabilities if necessary.

Katz also revealed that U.S. fighter jets and aerial refueling aircraft have been operating from Israel in support of strikes on Iran. He further claimed that Iran is actively seeking to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the Shin Bet is taking extensive measures to protect Israel’s leadership.

Warning Tehran against any future attacks, Katz said Israel has instructed the IDF to be prepared to act independently if needed.

“If Iran fires at Israel, we will strike with full force,” he said. “We are ready to hit Iran again and will not allow it to rebuild its nuclear program or restore capabilities that threaten Israel.”

Turning to Gaza, Katz said Israel now controls more than 60% of the Strip and expects that figure to rise to 70% as military operations continue. He also reiterated support for establishing new Nahal settlements in Gaza if Hamas fails to fulfill commitments to disarm.

Addressing the broader region, Katz said Israel intends to maintain its security positions in Gaza, Syria, and southern Lebanon, arguing that recent military gains must not be reversed.

He also issued a sharp warning to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying that while Iran’s regional influence has been weakened, the Muslim Brotherhood axis led by Turkey and Qatar could pose an equally serious threat.

“Jerusalem is not Constantinople,” Katz said. “We are here forever. I suggest Erdoğan not test us or put himself in the position Iran did.”
