Health Resources and Services Administration Administrator Thomas Engels visited Rockland County on Tuesday morning alongside Congressman Mike Lawler for meetings focused on healthcare services and accessibility across the region.
The visit began at Refuah Health Center, where Engels and Lawler met with Refuah leadership along with doctors and staff members, to learn more about the care provided to local residents.
During the visit, they discussed Refuah’s work in the community, the needs facing healthcare providers, and efforts aimed at ensuring families can receive necessary medical services close to home.
Engels and Lawler later traveled to the congressman’s district office, where they held a meeting with representatives from other healthcare organizations serving the 17th Congressional District.
The discussion focused on access to healthcare, challenges facing local providers, and ways the federal government can support organizations working to meet the medical needs of the district’s growing communities.
The visit gave local healthcare leaders an opportunity to speak directly with the HRSA administrator and Congressman Lawler about their work and the resources needed to continue expanding access to care throughout the district.
