The Ramapo Police Department has released new performance statistics highlighting the continued expansion of its RAPTOR (Ramapo Aerial Patrol Tactical Operations & Reconnaissance) Drone as First Responder program, showing increased flight activity and a growing role in emergency response.

According to the department's latest two-week report, covering July 13 through July 27, the drone unit conducted 95 flights, a 50.8% increase compared to the previous reporting period. Average daily flights also rose to 6.8 per day, up 51.1%.

One of the program's key benchmarks showed drones arriving first on scene in 56.2% of incidents, accounting for 50 flights during the reporting period. In addition, 28.1% of calls (25 incidents)** were cleared without requiring a patrol officer to respond, representing a 116.7% increase from the previous reporting period.

The department reported that the majority of drone missions—79 of the 95 flights (88.8%)—were dispatched to assist with calls for service. Other deployments included event overwatch, property checks, parking complaints, and patrols of local business areas.

Most of the intelligence gathered by the drones involved providing aerial overwatch (61.8%), while other missions helped locate vehicles, locate individuals, or support other investigative needs.

Ramapo Police say the RAPTOR Unit's Skydio Drone as First Responder system provides officers with real-time aerial intelligence, helping improve situational awareness, speed response times, and deploy patrol resources more efficiently. The department has recently expanded the program's use during proactive patrols in business districts and other high-traffic areas as part of its broader public safety strategy.
