After nearly 24 hours of severe weather that brought flooding, downed trees, road closures, and numerous emergency calls across the Town of Ramapo, Police Chief Daniel Hyman is thanking the many agencies and residents who worked together to keep the community safe.

In a public statement, Chief Hyman described the past day as especially challenging, with police officers responding not only to storm-related incidents but also to significant law enforcement matters throughout the town.

Despite the demanding conditions, Chief Hyman said the strong cooperation between emergency responders, public works crews, utility personnel, and residents made a significant difference.

He expressed appreciation to Town Supervisor Michael Specht, the Highway Department, the Department of Public Works, Ramapo Office of Emergency Preparedness, local fire departments, EMS and paramedics, Chaverim of Rockland, and the community for their dedication and teamwork during the prolonged storm.

"Policing is a partnership with our community," Chief Hyman said, noting that the collaborative response helped the town safely navigate one of the region's most active stretches of severe weather in recent months.
