DRONE ATTACK IN EGYPT: Two Gas Tankers Catch Fire at Damietta Port

Jul 29, 2026·1 min read

A drone struck a U.S.-owned floating gas storage tanker at Egypt’s Damietta Port on Wednesday, igniting a fire that later spread to a second vessel.

The strike hit the Energos Winter while cargo was being unloaded at the port’s liquefied natural gas terminal. The fire then spread to the nearby GasLog Salem.

The crews were evacuated and the fire was brought under control. No injuries were reported.

Security sources said the explosion was caused by a drone strike. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and Egyptian authorities had not yet issued an official statement.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions and could signal a further expansion of the war.
