With tens of thousands of Breslov chassidim expected to travel to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, the Breslov Union has launched a new free online platform designed to help travelers navigate the often lengthy border crossings into Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and the closure of the country’s airspace, pilgrims have been forced to enter through neighboring countries, leading to severe congestion at land border crossings. The new platform, called “On the Way to Uman,” aims to ease those delays by providing real-time information and smarter route planning.

The browser-based system, which requires no app download, features a live interactive map showing border wait times, traffic conditions, and alternate routes. Information is gathered from official sources, travel agencies, and user reports submitted directly from the field.

The platform also helps travelers plan their journey from the airport to Uman, automatically suggesting alternative border crossings if delays develop along the way.

In addition, the website includes maps of shuls, mikvaos, kosher restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, and rest stops, along with the locations of kivrei tzaddikim and batei hakvaros throughout Eastern Europe for those wishing to visit them during the trip.

Other features include the locations of hospitals, pharmacies, ATMs, parking areas, and emergency services, as well as local weather, exchange rates, and printable halachic zmanim customized for each stop along the route.

Rabbi Nosson Ben-Nun, chairman of the Breslov Union in Uman, said the platform was created to provide reliable, up-to-date information so travelers can make informed decisions and reduce unnecessary delays. He encouraged users to report traffic jams and bottlenecks in real time, calling the system “a project built on mutual responsibility.”
