Lebanese authorities have issued a 30-day arrest warrant for prominent businessman and banker Antoun Sehnaoui after he was photographed dining with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at a Washington event honoring the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

According to Lebanese judicial officials, Sehnaoui is under investigation for alleged “contact with the Israeli enemy” and violating Lebanon’s boycott law against Israel. The warrant was issued after several lawyers filed complaints over the widely circulated photo, prompting prosecutors to order an investigation. Authorities are also examining whether the image is authentic or AI-generated.

The dinner was co-hosted by Sehnaoui and former U.S. diplomat Morgan Ortagus and was attended by Netanyahu, his wife Sara, and other senior officials. The photo sparked widespread backlash across Lebanon’s political spectrum after it was shared on social media.

Sehnaoui, chairman of Lebanon’s SGBL Bank, has long been viewed as supportive of ties with Israel. Ortagus previously described him and his family as coming from generations of “Lebanese Christian Zionists,” while acknowledging that such contacts are technically illegal under Lebanese law.

The case could ultimately be referred to a military tribunal, despite ongoing diplomatic contacts and agreements between Israel and Lebanon.
