Demolition work is continuing on the New York State Thruway bridge over Route 202 in Suffern as part of a $19.4 million rehabilitation project.

The project is focused on restoring the more than 70-year-old bridge, which carries Interstate 87 over Route 202 near Exit 15.

Crews have been removing sections of the existing bridge deck, with new deck panels expected to be installed in the coming weeks.

The rehabilitation project is intended to strengthen the life of the bridge and improve its condition for motorists traveling through the Rockland County corridor.

Work is expected to continue through the remainder of the year, with the project scheduled for completion by late 2026.
