Britain has begun manufacturing the first Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets for Turkey under a multibillion-euro defense agreement signed in October 2025, marking a major step forward in one of Ankara’s largest military procurement programs.

According to BAE Systems, production is already underway at facilities in the United Kingdom and other partner nations, with the first aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2030.

Turkey has ordered 20 Eurofighter Typhoons in the advanced Tranche 4 configuration. Deliveries are expected to take place in three phases: six aircraft in 2030, eight in 2031, and the remaining six in 2032.

The deal, valued at more than €6 billion, will make Turkey the tenth operator of the European-built fighter jet, joining Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

According to Reuters, the agreement also includes a weapons package featuring long-range Meteor air-to-air missiles and Brimstone precision-guided air-to-ground missiles, with weapons integration to be carried out by MBDA.

In March 2026, BAE Systems also secured a separate contract from the British government to provide Turkey with training systems, simulators, spare parts, electronic warfare equipment, and long-term technical support. The program includes training for 10 Turkish instructor pilots and approximately 100 maintenance personnel by the Royal Air Force.

BAE Systems said the agreement strengthens defense cooperation between Britain and Turkey while supporting the Eurofighter program, which employs more than 20,000 people in the U.K. after concerns last year that production lines could slow due to a lack of new orders.
