A 40-year-old man was killed Monday morning in a devastating head-on collision involving two private vehicles on Route 42 in central Israel.

Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene found the man unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, suffering from severe multi-system injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries to her abdomen and limbs. After receiving treatment at the scene, she was transported by MDA to Kaplan Medical Center for further care.

Israel Police traffic investigators have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
