Sadly, there was a two-alarm fire early this morning at J2 Pizza in Lawrence. The former Sandwich Bar location, which is now vacant, was also destroyed from the blaze.

Multiple fire departments were on scene at around 3:30 am. It took approximately 150 fire fighters an hour and a half to extinguish the fire.

We hope J2 and the location next door can quickly recover. Thankfully, nobody was injured.

According to the most recent reports, the fire must likely began due to an electrical fire, reportedly from a fridge in the basement. We will wait for the Fire Marshall to conclude his investigation to say for sure.

Additionally, the Thrift Shop right next door was damaged from the fire. The bulk of the clothing was damaged and needs to be thrown out, sadly.
